My first topic is: If technology development is totally good for people?

1.       Yes. I am interested in this topic. Nowadays, technology is around us everywhere. I am interested in using laptop, iphone and so on. I have an interesting experience, when I went to a party with my friends. There is a moment that everyone just looks at their cellphone for going on internet, playing game or sending messages. Then, I start to think about this topic.

2.       I think technology development is good for people but it also has a bad side for people. For example, if people use too much laptop. It’s bad for people’s health. For another example, if people talk too much on the internet, they’ll have less time to go out and talk face to face. Yes, I can argue a position on this topic.

3.       I think I can. That’s a big topic and there are many people talk about this issue. I can find research material on internet or on the books.

4.       Yes. I think this topic is definitely appeal to me. I also can learn something during the research and write.

My second topic is: Is the Oscar awards fair?

1.       Yes. I like to watch movie and there are some movies I think it’s good but not get award. I start to suspect if the award of the movie is balance. I think that’s an interesting, special and complex topic.

2.       I think I can argue a position that everyone has their opinion and the reward of movie is just a subjective factor.

3.       I can find a lot of information about the film and the Oscar but I may can’t find a lot of information on my topic.

4.       Yes. I think this topic is appeal to me.

My third topic is:  Should we buy frozen food or fast food?

1.       Yes. I am interested in that. I came here and ate a lot of frozen food.

2.       I think I can get a strong argument that doesn’t eat too much frozen food and fast food. That’s bad for health.

3.       I think I can find a lot of research material so much information about that.

4.       Yes. I think this topic is appeal to me.

Topic 3

Spiderman and Batman

Nowadays, a lot of people talk about Spiderman is more powerful than Batman or Batman is more powerful than Spiderman. Some people think Batman is more powerful than Spiderman, but some people think Spiderman is more powerful than Batman and that’s also my opinion. There are some reasons for that.

First of all, the special ability of Spiderman is different from Batman. Spiderman got the power from a special spider. The power of him is a nature power and he became a special hero. But Batman is just a normal person. His power is rely on his technology and invention. If one day, he forgot to bring his weapon, he can’t do anything. But Spiderman can use his cobweb all the time.

The other reason that everyone knows is, because of the Spiderman is special and Batman is a normal person. Their strength of body is different. If both Spiderman and Batman fall down from a high building, what’ll happen?  Spiderman will climb up but the Batman will die because he is a normal person.

More importantly, why not think about how different their enemy is. The Batman’s enemy is also normal person and uses some strange weapon. But Spiderman’s enemy seems to be more powerful and even can affect the world. So, if change their enemy, Spiderman may solve the problem in just one second.

According to the story, Batman is grimmer, but Spiderman is more friendly and kind for people and he is also a college student. His daily life is more close to our life.  

For these reasons, I think Spiderman is more powerful than Batman. If we need a hero to save the world, I definitely will choose Spiderman but not Batman.

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is an ethical policy of academia and it’s a very important thing. The

fundamental value of academic integrity contains honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness and no

cheating. We shall not tolerate lying, cheating, or stealing in any form.

First, we can’t cheat. That means we can’t copy other people’s homework; we can’t use

the information from the internet or books without indicating the source. We also can’t steal

other  people’s work, even the ideas of other people. We also shouldn’t lie to students and

teachers on the academic area.  We have to take this as a very serious problem. Students and staff

need to be honest in learning, teaching, and communication.  

In the academic environment of integrity, trust is also essential. Students and staff need to

trust each other. Then, they can communicate with each other earnestly and create a better

environment to study and live.  People also need to respect each other when they are in

discussion.  People need to accept wide ideas from each other and share their ideas in an honest

way.  Then both students and teachers  can improve themselves.

All the people need to be in a fair situation. Student and teachers should put other people

on the same standards, and have a fair level. Then it will make the competition fair and healthy.

Finally, of course, everyone needs to be responsible for himself/herself.

Topic 2

The background of first photograph is the performance of our band in Shanghai.  It shows every member of our band. The angle of this photograph is special, because that’s a low angle. That’s make the audience feel the photograph is powerful and feel our band is powerful enough. There is also eye contact show in this photograph which is between the guitar player and me. That’s show the cooperation of our team. The pose of our singer is very cool. The whole photograph tells the audience the vigor of the young people and show the profession of our show.  It also shows the other sides of teenagers.

 

The second photo is about my teacher, my friend and me.  That’s a graduation photo of my high school. So the background of this photo is our school campus. The clothes are special. Because of the graduation day, we need to wear suits. This photo shows the growing of us because of the formal clothing. The middle one is our teacher; we stand together and tell people the good relationship between the students and the teacher.

I may not choose the first photo to print in the newspaper alongside an article describing a prestigious scholarship that I have won but I may use the second one. Because the scholarship is a formal thing, I need to choose a more formal photo to show my academic level.

I will submit the first one to my dorm newsletter because it shows my hobby.

And I also will use both of them as my Facebook profile picture. Because both of them show my daily life, the first photo also can persuade other people pay attention to me.

I think that the different rhetorical situations will influence the argument I want to make through constructing your persona.
