When I came here, all the things seem to be different from my country. But I can still see many examples of rhetoric. And the visual rhetoric is everywhere around us.
When I get up, I want to eat milk with cereal. The box of the cereal have rhetoric, there is a picture of family about parents give their children eat this kind of cereal. The picture gives the idea that other family also eats it and buys it as soon as possible. And on the bottom of the box, there is a nutrition table to tell people how nutritious it is. The picture of other box of cereal is a cartoon about some lovely animals eats the cereal. I think this kind of visual rhetoric is for children.
Then, I go outside, walk on the street, I see the bus in campus, building in campus, uniform and so on. The color of them is almost purple and orange. I feel all the things and people in campus are a family, we are together. That’s a kind of strong visual rhetoric.
I also see the poster about the laundry which is on the wall of our dorm. There are too many words on it and just no picture to show the laundry but there is very detail information about using the laundry can save how much money.
Then I continue to walk on my way, I see the app store. The logo of app product is really smart one. That’s very easy one and give people a feeling of convenience and comfortable.
There is too much visual rhetoric in our daily life and they have different type. In my opinion, I prefer the images with a funny picture and a little word with big font. The cartoon or advertisement can use simple word or picture to show what they want show will be more persuasive. And the visual rhetoric with more words and clearly information may be more persuade to some adults.
